IMAP settings for iPhone

Does anyone have the IMAP set up instructions for the iPhone? And Outlook 2007?
Thanks.

Re: IMAP settings for iPhone

Hi Jackie,

I don't have an iPhone, but I do have a Touch. I can describe to you how to set up an IMAP account in it and hopefully that will translate to the iPhone as well.

These are the steps I take:

1. Go to Settings
2. Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Add Account...
4. Other
5. Add Mail Account
6. Fill in name (your name), Address (your email address), Password (password you assigned to that email account in the CNC), Description (email address is filled in by default)
7. Save
8. Next screen gives a choice of IMAP or POP. IMAP is selected by default - leave it if you want IMAP.
9. Under Incoming Mail Server on that screen, type pop.yourdomain.com (where you replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name), type the User Name for the email account (you can use either the part before the @ sign in the address or you can use the full email address -- either should work), Password (should be auto-filled in for you from #6)
10. Under Outgoing Mail Server on that screen, type mail.yourdomain.com (again, replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name), type the same User Name as you did in #9, and the same Password as you did in #6.
11. Save and it should then attempt to verify the IMAP information you entered.
12. If you get messages that "Secure Connection Failed", saying the certificate for your email address may not be valid, that is expected since secure email uses a cert assigned to "Secure.FutureQuest.net" and not to your domain. Just hit Continue (and it will proceed with the verification process).
13. If everything has gone smoothly up to this point, check your mail.

As a note, just so you're aware, IMAP stores email on the server and any stored email is counted against your package disk space.

Oh, and I'm not an Outlook user, but the following should help some with it:

Re: IMAP settings for iPhone

Thank you, Melissa! It worked. I was expecting the incoming or outgoing server info to change. And thanks for the server info..I wasn't aware of that.
