Why Vegemite tastes funny ...

I know that most of you are mystified by us Aussies' taste for our "National Food", Vegemite.

I have always wondered why many folks find the taste of Vegemite so repulsive, so I decided to do some research ...

On the Vegemite website I found this page from which I quote:
Quote:
The yeast extract spread we all know and love first appeared on our shelves in 1923. It was made from many essential ingredients apart from yeast extract.

One of the main ones was Fred Walker - a man before his time.
NOW I understand . . .

Well, OK... my vote for Marmite being better is based on a (mercifully) brief encounter with Vegemite, but still...

Marmite: there's a spread! What toast was invented for.

I wonder how much better Marmite would taste with that 'hint of Fred Walker'?

if you read down you see another strange ingredient.. they seem to have confused flour with flower as they've put roses in it.

We have some Irish friends who eat the stuff like cotton candy. We just look on in wonder, awe, and disgust!
