Displaying mailing list on web page

In http://www.aota.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/001467-1.html Terra provides a nifty little script for displaying the contents of an ezmlm list. I use it and it works like a charm. I send the link to clients who have mailing lists on their sites so they can quickly view the list.

My question: Since the display is accesible to anyone with the correct link, no password required, how secure is the list? Is there a way to password protect it, if necessary?

Since the list is located in your home directory, it will be a little difficult for any average person to mess with your list. Anybody can access the output of the cgi script though. In any case, if you want to password protect a directory, you can take a look at the following page:
http://www.aota.net/htaccess/pwprotect.php3

CNC does the protection automatically. It's really cool

Thanks, Manish. Yes, the CNC password protection feature is very cool. But this script resides in the cgi-bin - what happens to the other scripts if I put a password on that directory?

You could create a subdirectory in your cgi-bin and move that script along into that subdirectory and password protect only that subdirectory in the cgi-bin. Then your other scripts would be unaffected.
