Outlook Express Help
I have my POP accounts here with FQ and using Outlook Express my mail arrives to each domain address just fine. But, I'd like to reply to these letters from the same account so that the same domain address the letters are sent to, appears in the reply. As it is now, all my replies go out to people with my ATT address in them.
How do I do this?

If you're using Oulook Express 4.0, you have to click File --> Send Message Using --> (select account). This will let you select which account to send from (the default can be changed, but all messages are sent using the default by... um... by default )
If you upgrade to IE5, with it comes Outlook Express 5, which is well worth the upgrade if you're an Oulook user It will by default reply using the same account the message you're replying to came in to - almost a DUH factor on MS's part, but that one feature makes the migration to IE5 well worth it
Hope this helps...

Justin,
Thanks for the reply. I downloaded IE5 and had a surprisingly flawless experience (is that possible?) but still no luck here.
Here's the error message I'm getting:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pugzone.com', Server: 'pugzone.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I dunno, I followed the directions for OE to send/retrieve my PugZone mail, and thought I did it right, but I guess not. So what does all this cryptic stuff mean and how do I fix it? Well, I'll settle for how to fix it actually, knowing why is just going to make my brain hurt
Definitely impressed with OE5 by the way.

I've seen this error occur when using a different FROM: address then the address that the email is being sent from is. Check and make sure the FROM: is set to the same email address that you are actually sending from and not another address.

Isn't ATT's internet service one of the big ones that prevents its users from sending mail using other accounts, ie, they block port 25?
Been there done that with Sprint Canada -- not fun, especially when they wouldn't admit that they blocked SMTP, even when I carefully ruled out all other possible causes.
If that's the case, you may have to either switch ISP's, or use QuestMail, if you need to send "from" your FQuest accounts. (We switched right on over to cable modem service, and haven't looked back . . .)
There's a mini-tutorial on aota about checking to see if port 25 is blocked, Deb posted the url here in the forums recently.

Deb,
Thanks, I double checked and it's set up correctly. I didn't really care about this until I got my store set up, but now I'd like to keep things seperate.
Bekariso,
Hmmm...Thanks, I'm going to try that over the weekend to see if they're blocking it. Would really piss me off, but I don't want to change ISP's again after dumping Mindspring a few months ago.
Funny thing here where I live is that there's only one company that offers Cable Modem Service in my area and that's Cablevision. I know a few people who use them for everything...cable TV, phones, internet access...And when one thing goes, like the cable TV being down, everything goes including the phone service and internet access.
No phone, no TV, no internet? What's left to do?

AT&T internet would not let Outlook Express use different sending accounts. Thank goodness that was just a free trial. I would have been furious had I paid.
As for the cable "everything"....we have a 9 hour battery backup for the phone service. Should an outage be longer, they have promised cell phones to be brought out and recently it was in the newspaper that indeed, there was an accidental cut of the line and they brought cell phones out.
I also can tell you that my cable has gone out on the TV, but the cable internet still worked. (???)
I will admit, I am not thrilled that AT&T/TCI "has" us like this, but so far so good. Wish us luck!

Just wanted to drop by and say thanks to everyone who replied...
Spoke to AT&T Worldnet today and they do indeed block Port 25. The bright side of it is that you can call them and request they unblock it for your account as long as you've had your account longer than 30 days.
On top of this, Outlook Express 5 allows you to mask it so even I use my AT&T account for all my POP accounts, it looks like I'm replying from whatever address they sent to.
...Now if I could only figure out why all that stuff in my system tray doesn't load properly anymore since I put in IE5 I'd be all set. Grrrr.

I was wondering if there is any way to upgrade to Outlook Express 5 without updating Internet Explorer. Iw ork for a large web development firm, which uses Nescape 4.0 and IE 4.0 for tesing purposes. I am not allowed to upgrade any software used for business purposes. The email system they use however run over Outlook, so I utilize Outlook Express to segregate my personal accounts within their.
At home, I use Oulook Express 5, and find it far superior to the Outlook Express 4 I am stuck with here, expecially the fact that I can check my hotmail from 5. There has to be a way to update Outlook Express to 5 without affecting IE. Please respond if you have any help, or even if this is just a really stupid question with a really dumb answer.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
