IRO --> IRM?

Hi!

Is it possible to have an IRO point to an IRM?  I currently have an IRM and would like to get an additional domain that points to this IRM.  For ie:

I have:      maindomain.com, which is an IRM
I also want: anotherdomain.com

I just want the additional domain (would this be an IRO?) to point to the IRM.  Would it change the URL in the location bar?  Or would it look as though it's the second domain's URL?

Also, I'm going to first register this additional domain at dotster...what information should I use for FQ? Contact name, etc.

Hmmm...I think it's an IRM that I want to redirect to maindomain.com.  I don't want it to look like another website, I just want it to "point" to maindomain.com.

TIA!

Joi~

What you need to do is order another IRM, pointing to the same directory as the other IRM...

Hope this helps.

Thanx Justin!

I would like to order the domain through dotster...should I order the IRM first and then complete dotster? Will FQ change the server name from dotster to FQ?  This is the first time I'm registering somewhere else, instead of having the webhost register the domain for me.  Any advice would be wonderful .  The only information I'm missing is the dns server names.

TIA,

Joi

1 more Q....when I place an order for the IRM on FQ, can point that new IRM domain to the IRM I already have???

If this is not possible, I guess I can do an instant redirect to the page I want... For ie: I would make another directory for this new IRM to point to, then redirect it to the IRM.

You wouldn't be ordering an IR to overlay another IR (this can't be done) but you can order an IR that overlays the same directory as an existing IR.

Let's assume you want:
IR.com to overlay domain.com/ir/
and you want IR2.net to show the exact same as IR.com shows...
You would order both IR.com and IR2.net to overlay domain.com/ir/  What you can not order is IR2.net to overlay IR.com...

Make sense?

Hmmm...so I guess I would have to do the redirect.  Here's the situation:

I have stopsexoffenders.com (IRM)

I just registered another domain that I want to point to stopsexoffenders.com (haven't ordered it yet)

Since I can't point the new IRM - stopsexoffenders.com, I could create another directory/page that the IRM will point to, and redirect that to stopsexoffenders.com.

I believe, that if I point the new IRM to the same directory as stopsexoffenders (IRM), the links won't work???

Am I making sense?

Thanx,

Joi~

StopSexOffenders.com is pointing to:
http://www.YourOtherDomain.com/stopsexoffenders/

So if you would like your new domain name to point to the same place you'll order an IRM for your new domain name and request it be pointed to http://www.YourOtherDomain.com/stopsexoffenders/

Once activated both StopSexOffenders.com and your new domain will show the same web pages and content...

But...I want the new IRM to show stopsexoffenders.com in the browser location bar...  will it do this if I point it to that directory?

Oh gosh...sorry to be a bother!

I want the new IRM domain name to turn into stopsexoffenders.com.  If I point it to the same dir as stopsexoffenders, what will show in the location bar, and how will the links work?  Maybe I should just create a page to redirect it to the stopsexoffenders.com website?

TIA,

Joi~

Ahh I see... no.. for that you would in fact need to put it in another directory and use something like a META Refresh....

Deb
