Newbie help on process

I want to buy a domain name from joker.com but wondered if I need to have somewhere to "park it" first.

I want to get a hosting account with FutureQuest but understand that I need a domain name before I can do so. But if I buy a domain name from joker.com, do I need somewhere to park it first? Am I in Catch-22? Surely not...

NO catch 22 here, You can either sign up for FQ with the name you want to register first, than register it at Joker, OR you can register it at Joker first and then sign up at FQ.  You will need the FQ server information in order to register the domain.  I would recommend registering the domain first, that way you won't loose the name you want.
