My son's school project

My son, Jonathan, did a web page on the Battle of Gettysburg for a school assignment. He is a 14-yr old 8th grader. He learned how to code the HTML himself. (That was our weekend project for March 18-19. Thank goodness for Web Monkey! at
 http://www.webmonkey.com)

I touched it up a bit and put a counter and guestbook on the site for him, but most of it is his work.

Would you like to check it out? Maybe drop him a note?

He did a good job - I signed his guestbook.

Does anyone else remember how cool it was to get to print your name out on a "banner"? You know, fire up the IIe, and the Style Writer, put in the Appleworks disk, and print your name accross 8 to 12 sheets of tractor feed paper?  Most kids today would probably tell you that's a waste of paper... and trees... Oh, then there was Hangman...

In the same vein, don't forget about the little program to print, "Hi, My Name is Dan," ad nauseum on the screen.    I think that was 4th-6th grade, though.  Us inner city kids didn't get much in the way of computer classes after those basics, not that there was much more to teach at the time...

(Whoa, with W2K, don't think while holding down the shift key...  After 8 seconds it asks you if you intended to turn on the filters options.  Yeah, I just woke up...)

Yeah, I was hit with the shift key thing already too... freaked me out - was going to type something, stopped, looked at the wall for a few seconds, and then Windows started asking me questions...
