SSI - how many on a webpage?

I already have 2 on each webpage, and am thinking of adding another...just to make it easier for me to change some additional links when I'm ready to.  What is the downside to having so many SSIs on a webpage?  Doesn't this increase the amount of allowable bandwidth? (which I've never really measured)

TIA,

Joi~

I don't believe it will affect bandwidth, as the same amount of text is being loaded whether it's directly in the HTML or part of an external file.  The only downside I'm aware of for SSI is that it's slower to load, due to the server parsing and non-cacheing aspects.  I doubt either would change by adding an extra SSI or two.  I have around five on most pages, and there isn't any apparent lack of performance.
