On my Win XP SP3 system, I recently updated Flash player to ver. 10.0.45.2 for both Firefox 3.6 and IE 8. Now I'm having a major problem viewing some web sites in both browsers. The problem seems to be some kind of negative interaction with JavaScript, as disabling JS somewhat mitigates the problem.
Two examples:
1.
www.DirecTv.com - From the home page, mouse over the "Equipment" button in the gray menu-bar near the top of the page. Then click on one of the choices, like Receivers or Remotes. In FF, the page is not loaded and the mouse pointer doesn't change back to the normal arrow for several seconds. In IE, the page is not loaded and the browser seems to hang. I can only quit IE by issuing an "End Task" using the Windows Task Manager.
2.
www.Comcast.com - On the home page, mouse over the "Learn" button on the top menu-bar. Then click on one of the choices, like "Digital Cable With On Demand". In FF, the page is not loaded. In IE, I've had mixed results.
As I said earlier, disabling JavaScript mitigates the problem somewhat. But that causes other problems, as JS is needed by many sites. I've tried disabling NoScript in FF, but that doesn't seem to have any effect.
On another PC I use, I still have Flash 10.0.42.34 on both browsers. And the problems do not occur on that version.
I haven't been able to find any reports of this in a quick Google search, so I thought I would pass it on so the FQ community can start
making some noise!!!
