MySQL Account Management Download fails

Excited to see the new feature this year.

We are having a problem with it failing on large databases. At least we think it is. A 13,267K GZ file downloads from a 81.66MB data base.

We have not been able to download zip or gzip backups using phpMyAdmin since the database got large. It downloads fine with no compression so we have been doing our backups that way.

This is a Wordpress database that we used to use a plugin to backup, when that started to fail when it got to large we switched to phpMyAdmin. When using gzip or zip in phpMyAdmin we also get compressed files that are to small.

Not sure how to check the gzip locally, but I expect it is no good and the issue is with compressing large files in both the new MySQL account manger like in phpMyAdmin.

I would hate to think people may think they are backing up, when the file will not be complete if they ever need it.

Re: MySQL Account Management Download fails

What operating system are you using?

If your operating system does not provide a utility for handling gzip files, and you are using a Windows OS, you could try 7zip for opening the archive:

Re: MySQL Account Management Download fails

Thanks Sheila, 7-zip was able to open the file and it matches the .sql file downloaded without compression using phpMyAdmin. Guess I was expecting less compression, like a zip file.

So all is well with the new FQ MySQL control panel!

The gzip file from phpMyAdmin opens and in the file it reports "#2008 - MySQL client ran out of memory"

Of course now I am trying to remember how that game 7-up was played in school decades ago

Re: MySQL Account Management Download fails

MySQL backups are completely text based and somewhat repetitive so they compress very well. Gzip isn't even the best compression available on the *nix side it is just the one that has been around for at least a decade and has uncompressors available on every modern platform.
