Re: Happy Holidays from FutureQuest

When I click a view icon in CNC my browser asks "do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely." I'm not sure what to say, but I've been saying yes. I guess I'm missing something but I don't know what.

I tested the view feature with a file of over 10,000 lines. I thought it wouldn't work because the default width of the line number field fits just four digits. It worked though.

Can you provide us with specific details of which CNC (and secure or unsecure CNC) you are accessing when you are presented with "do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely." as well as the steps you are taking that leads to that.

Probably best to send the information to the Service desk, Service@FutureQuest.net

Done. Waiting for it to be looked into. Almost forgot to check my spam folder. Yahoo doesn't like Futurequest.

Re: Happy Holidays from FutureQuest

Terra and everyone at FQ, thanks for another glitch-free year of webhosting. Going with FQ over 10 years ago was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I appreciate the constant updates; indeed, greasing up the Email Manager made a huge improvement on that page in the CNC as I have a lot of aliases (trying to whittle them down, tho).

Again, many thanks to EVERYONE at FQ for the wonderful job you all do!

This was tracked down to the Syntax Highlighting feature just recently added to the CNC FileManager...

For further details, I have posted up a resolve at the developer's forums:

Thank you for the heads up...

What Can We Do To Help FutureQuest Weather A Bad Economy?

Successful business relationships are a two-way street. FutureQuest has been paddling against an ebbing economy, working hard to protect us from increasingly aggressive cyberthugs, and simultaneously been improving the already outstanding services. Terra: What might we clients do to help FutureQuest fend off the attacks and prosper?

Doesn't look like the new bandwidth allocations have hit the Hosting Packages page, or my CNC 'Server info' page.

  1. Use caching as much as possible (helps keep server loads down when zombie packs hit)
  2. Make sure your software is kept up to date with all security patches applied
  3. If you install features to your Forums, CMS, Blog, etc, and you end up not using them - then remove them
  4. Avoid having email addresses on your site
  5. Periodically inspect your site for unwanted items, such as your forums or Blog talkback areas holding spamvertised links
  6. If you do find unwanted items in your site, notify us immediately and try to preserve the original files if you make changes (we need those for forensics to determine the scope of the incursion)

That is a short list of things that would help us in the long run in dealing with all the malicious and undesirable activity that hits our servers 24/7/365...

Sorry - got a bit of a late start today...

We have been working on all the updates and they should all be completed shortly...
