These new servers will be available to new accounts as well as clients wanting to upgrade from the older Phoenix and Enigma Cores. A final decision has not been made as to whether we will retrofit the older servers with the Genesis Core or replace them with new server hardware. This will depend heavily on how the economy goes in 2010. It is an expensive endeavor and we will do the best we can with what we have...

Thanks Terra. The new CNC looks cleaner and we are taking a look.

We are on what I believe is the oldest server Taz account #37.

What core is this using or is this information available from the CNC?

And why not update the company's first customers to the shiny new servers/cores automatically as a matter of policy as opposed to the Johnny-come-latelies or do we have to request this on a case by case basis?

P.S. On our browser it still reports Command 'N' Control v.3.5 in the browser location tab instead of version 4.0 We force a browser re-load and it still sez version 3.5

The new CNC will help pave the way for some new things and was one of the first preliminary steps to designing a CNC API... Still a long ways to go for that as it needs to be converted from a monolithic (yet modular) architecture to a full modular design where the CNC only handles the presentation layer with all work being passed out to a centralized and plugable operational arbitrator core...

What core is this using or is this information available from the CNC?

TAZ is a Phoenix Class core, which is the oldest... It is also the most reliable core but on the flipside, the most difficult for me to layer on top of and administrate...

TAZ is in the lower middle of the server pack as it has been updated to dual CPU...

From a migration standpoint, it is easier to find and fix problems with new accounts than it is to migrate a whole server to it and have a ton of unforeseen breakage... It is a matter of easing it out of the docks for its maiden voyage... This is why it was decided to offer this to the MQS clients first, because any breakage only affects one domain instead of many therefore keeping problems isolated... Also because they are generally pretty heavy dynamic sites that will really exercise the new Genesis Core in a closed and controlled environment... Genesis + MQS == Goldilocks migration zone...

When Genesis is deployed on the Community Servers, then there will be an open door for clients to migrate if they want to... My initial thoughts is to take the first 25 requests for migration to the new GENESIS Community Server... I will consider yours to be the first request...

As an aside, most all of the MQS systems are used by clients that have been with us for many many years and found that their site outgrew the shared Community Servers...

Thanks for the report, I have just fixed it and pushed out the updated CNC code...

Yep - it is just a simple button click away to get the raw mysqldump of your database tables...

We are keeping a close eye on this feature though and do consider it to be a v1.0 Beta release... The main issue is the time it takes to dump + the compression time... For smaller databases, it works great... For the larger ones, as long as they don't bunch up it should be fine... As we see its usage patterns, we'll make further (behind the scenes) tweaks to it...

Re: Happy Holidays from FutureQuest

Thanks and best wishes to all at FQ. Thank you for excellent service for one particular site I oversee which is so crucial at Christmas, we didn't see any issues in all of Nov/Dec which is quite amazing given the nature of shared hosting.

The new CNC design is very nice and clean, thank you.

Let us not forgot the real star of the show, FQ Secure Mode - unique, ingenious and the main attraction at FQ that seems to never get the credit it deserves.

I wish everyone all the best for the coming year and Merry Christmas

How are you handling binary fields? Is the hex flag enabled?

Re: Happy Holidays from FutureQuest

Thanks for another great year of hosting.

I recently replied to a questionnaire that included ranking my skills in basic web skills. One was Cpanel. In the remarks box I explained that my skills in Cpanel are below average because I host at FutureQuest which has a far better control panel. So far enjoying the new changes in CNC, but I am always a big fan of the CNC.

Actually, we don't use mysqldump at all... We decided to use the optimal solution of iterating over the query result from a full SELECT and massaged it into INSERT statements for the dump... This covers our bases for both v4.x and v5.x MySQL clients...

In essence, the dump is whatever raw data is returned by the SELECT and we take care in making sure that the output stream is properly quoted...

As mentioned before, it is a Beta feature and feedback is welcomed for any oddities one may run across...
