Test request: add product to cart?

A client of mine is having a problem where the "Add to Cart" feature is working on some computers, but not others. My client is relatively tech savvy and has tested on different computers and browsers on different networks. The feature doesn't work for him. I have tested on different computers and different browsers (including the same browser versions and operating system as client) and add to cart feature works. This is very strange and I cannot reproduce the problem to troubleshoot it. I would appreciate feedback from others here to see whether it works. If you can help test, please simply try adding a product to your shopping cart. You can either drill down to a product, then click the "Add to Cart" button or enter XK-1151 into the Quick Find field and then click the "Add to Cart" link in the result (this is the quickest method). You will not be redirected to the Shopping Cart page, but above the content you should see a confirmation message and your Cart count should increase in the header.

If you test, please let me know the outcome, operating system, browser and version, and ISP. If it doesn't work, please let me know whether you have cookies disabled.

Oh... www.valumotion.com

Thanks in advance! -Matt

Re: Test request: add product to cart?

Success:
I tried the test exactly as given, with the iRider browser (uses IE 7.0.5730.13 engine) Win XP Media Center Edition. V 2002, SP2. Also called Windows Professional 5.0.2600. ISP: Comcast Broadband.

Failure:
With Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5) the cart failed. No confirmation, nothing in cart, I was returned to the catalog page and tried the other "add to cart" button with no result the page just refreshed. Same setup as with IE. Cookies enabled.

I'm leaving for a few hours now, will try other tests when I get back if you need them.

Re: Test request: add product to cart?

I successfully added one "Aluminum Wheel Chocks (#XK-1160)" to my cart with:
  • Firefox 3.0.3, Mac OS X 10.5.6.
  • Safari 3.2.1 (same)
  • Firefox 3.0.5, Windows XP Pro SP3
  • IE 7.0.5.5730.13, (same)
ISP in all cases is Optimum Online (Cablevision).

Now to figure out why Firefox hasn't updated itself on my Mac since September.

Re: Test request: add product to cart?

Thanks for the testing. Firefox 3.0.5 on Windows XP Media Center fails, huh? That gives me a starting point (although rather obscure as I don't know whether I'll be able to get my hands on it for testing). Firefox 3.0.5 on Windows XP Pro SP2 worked for me (like Randall). This is a rather unusual bug. The only obvious explanation I can think of for the discrepancies are malware affecting one person's browser and not another or possibly a plugin of some kind. Very strange. -Matt
