??? on 404 files

Got a question, if you have an html file named 404 in a sub-directory of a domain will that file override the main 404 file for page not found. Reason I ask is on my site I have always used numbers for labelling pages in this particular one section.

Never had to think about or deal with these 404 file not found pages before. And hopefully will be uploading my site FINALLY to the FQ server now that I'm just about done totally renovating and tinkering with approximately a 150 webpages..aaarrrggh...

Thanks! Just needed to ask another dumb question to someone to keep up my new quota.

Hello Armand,

good question...

ErrorDocument 404 /404.html

So it will use that *only* for the 404 error page...

Feel free to put 404.html in subdirectories - they will not affect the domain error page... You can always replace our standard 404 page with your own...

thanks Deb, I was sweating that one for a while. Spend like over a month slowly re-working everything and I do mean everything for the transfer (AOL's easy-method's fault ) and never considered that issue until now.

guess I would have seen for myself when I upload everything tonight anyways but was frantic worrying. Thanks

Hey by the way, how come there wasn't a photo of you on Terra's little photo page. That's not nice... just teasing
