Flash and PHP, Ming?

I am interested in using Ming. I've searched the forums and only found a 4 year old reference. Could someone please let me know what is the situation regarding Ming?

If Ming is not being considered, I would most appreciate any suggestion regarding how to dynamically generate Flash from PHP.

Thank you all.

In those 4 years there has been no change in the status of the Ming PHP module, it is still marked experimental.

What are you trying to achieve with dynamically generated Flash files? Perhaps there are other ways to achieve it?

Re: Flash and PHP, Ming?

Thanks for the reply, Arthur.

I didn't realize Ming was still marked experimental, although it did notice that the latest release is 0.3 hmmm.. is it really that unstable?

Anyway, the flash requirement is a request I've received for conducting multiple choice surveys. Apparently, the issue has to do with preventing "select all" and some such so that the text (questions) of the survey cannot be ripped off too easily.

I can't really think of an alternative that would somewhat protect the content.

Hi franc,

I don't know if this approach will meet your needs, but you can use PHP's image functions to create graphics dynamically. The survey form can be done in HTML and you can create one image for each question that just contains the text.

Well, hey, I didn't know you could do that. Goes to show.

Thanks for the info, Tom, much appreciated.

Re: Flash and PHP, Ming?

Keeping with the Flash interface idea; you could make a generic front-end that fetches the text from the server. You could have text/XML files on the server, or a script that retrieves the questions from a database.

That sounds interesting and, again, it shows that neither PHP nor Flash are my forte (in my defense, I am a demon with C++).

I'll look into it. Thank you, Arthur, for taking the time.
