FQ Newbie Questions

OK, my sites are set up, but the domain transfer has not taken place yet. I have a couple of early questions:
1) I have read about the CNC, however, my site does not have a CNC subdirectory, should it?
2) Last night when I ftp'ed in with cute FTP I could go up in the directory far enough to see my cgi-bin and other directories, now I can't. I can get to /xdomain/username but not to /xdomain/ where I think the CGI etc. was.

Thanks,

KEITH

Hi there..

To access the CNC, from your browser.. just type in http://www.yourdomain.comORnet/CNC
and you will be asked for your username and password for access.

On the other.. I am not familiar at all with Cute Ftp.. I use WS_FTP (sorry)

Hello, and welcome to FutureQuest!

Paul is right - you can also use your temporary URL ending in /CNC (case sensitive).

When you FTP in, you are by default directed to a directory that is your username. This is a symbolic link - just go up one directory and you will be in /big/dom/xdomain, and there you will find your www, cgi-bin, logs_web, etc.

Hope this helps

PS - you won't see a CNC in there - it's symbolic as well. Also, your username directory, as well as any symbolic link will look like a folder with a red arrow on it in CuteFTP

if this is a domain transfer, wouldn't the URL to the CNC panel until the transfer is in effect be: http://xyourDomainName.futurequest.net/CNC ?

The shell account is your handle, if you would like that forwarded, you will have to contact Terra via email.

Depending on what ya want/need, you could always set up a forwarding alias to whatever account you wish.

AND, early this morning Internic did their wonder and my site is now loading from FQ. However, my email is still going to the old server. How long does that take to change (since I want to cancel that account before the end of the month). KEITH

Propagation can take anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks. It depends on the individual ISPs that a user is connected to and how long they have their DNS Time Outs set to.

If you are seeing your domain load from the FQ server now... then I would guess that the email will be working for you by the end of the day.

As far as how long it takes for everyone to catch up, the majority is 24 hours but there will be stragglers for up to a week or more.

Being in the middle of a transfer is never fun but it should clear up for you soon

As far as the email forwarding... if you would like all of the email that goes into your root account to be forwarded elsewhere email Support@FutureQuest.net with the details and we can set that up for you.

Deb

p.s. The CNC will not work until you are able to use the full domain name. xdomain.futurequest.net/CNC/ shouldn't work but yourdomain.com/CNC/ will
