Snow emergency, sort of

I might need fake snow on short notice. I might need to buy it tomorrow afternoon for use tomorrow afternoon. I might get the spray on stuff too, but I need stuff that can be held in your hand and thrown on the floor. I think I have white packing peanuts, which is fine (it doesn't have to look very real), but I might throw it on public sidewalks so I'd like it to be recyclable. Is there a national chain that has it? Would party supply stores have it?

Also, any buying tips for spray-on snow? Does some wash off easier or go on lumpier or something?

Wass, you should be able to get packing peanuts in HUGE bags from any cardboard box supplier. In the yeller pages, see: Boxes - Folding Cartons, Boxes - Folding Cartons - Manufacturers, Printers - Folding Cartons.

They're in 20 cu ft bags.

Yeah, I have some, but even if I get the biodegradable kind (unless it's actual popcorn) it will look environmentally unfriendly and I don't want to be accused of killing seals or anything.

Use rice or flour. And wear your baby seal-skin coat.
