Is this possible?

Hi,

I know what I would like to do, but I am not sure if it is possible - I would like to
set up an email address at my websites which would forward to one of my regular email accounts but from which I could also reply. So, for instance, if my domain is "example.com" and someone sends email to "Ted@example.com" it would forward to my regular email address, but I could log in to Questmail and send a reply which would show the return address as "Ted@example.com".

It appears to me that if I set up a forwarding address I get the forwarding but do not get the ability to reply from that address, and if I set up a pop address I get the ability to reply, but no forwarding. Am I missing something. Is there a way to get both features in one address with Questmail?

Re: Is this possible?

You should be able to setup Ted@example.com as a POP3 account, and then put a custom filter on it that forwards a copy of every message received to, say Ted2@example.com

Some custom filter code for doing this can be found here.

Re: Is this possible?

Thanks Joseph!

There's another neat Futurequest feature I didn't even know about! I deleted the forwarding alias and created a pop3 mailbox to which I then added the custom filter "forward emailaddy@example.com" (minus the quotation marks and with the specifics changed to conform to my domain and email address).

I sent myself a test message and it worked almost exactly as I had hoped. The message did indeed show up at the email address I had instructed it to forward to. The only thing that didn't behave as I expected was that the message does not seem to exist in the inbox of my pop3 box. Ideally I'd like the message to exist in both places, for ease of message quoting in my replies (although I can just do a cut and paste if I have to).

It looks to me like the message should exist in both place if I understand this correctly:

Forwarding Email to One Address - forwards a copy of the incoming email to the address emailaddy@example.com. Standard delivery is not affected, so the email will still be delivered to the original recipient as well.

forward emailaddy@example.com

but if it does exist in the inbox folder of the pop3 mailbox I am not seeing it as mine reads "THIS FOLDER IS EMPTY". (I'm interpreting "original recipient" in the instructions to be the pop3 mailbox).

Any thoughts?

Re: Is this possible?

Ted,

If it is the domain and email account I think it is there is a single email in the POP email account that has the Custom filter enabled on it. It can be seen in your CNC email manager...

Thanks Bob,

Yes, you are right - It's there. I must have logged on as the wrong user last night or something ... maybe my brain was falling asleep Anyway, good to know the problem was with me rather than the system.
