Any Google Adwords Gurus here?

at some stage in the far past had i tried Google Adwords and then given up on it for reasons i don't even remember now. perhaps the targeting was poor back then.

yesterday i decided to give it another try. but i have been less than impressed by the system.

i added a test campaign complete with a supplied list of keywords which i figured were relevant for my advert. but then later in the day after activating the account i get an (automatically sent) email about underperforming keywords--low click through rate--and a stern directive to address the problem.

but does Google direct me to a useful page explaining how to remedy the problem? no. instead i spend ages pouring over my account trying to figure out where the keywords are for the campaign. i still can't find them. so i have no chance of editing them at present.

a support query to Google has not met with a reply yet, so i figured i'd ask here if we have anyone who is familiar with the Adwords interface. i presume there are a few.

another thing i disliked intensely was Google's admonition to me for "slowing" the system and telling me they would charge me another $5 to restart the campaign after i had fixed it. this, after charging me an initial $5 to activate the campaign. in my opinion, they certainly don't try very hard to get the customer off to a good start. well, i'm understating how i truly feel at the moment. obviously i'm somewhat miffed with them.

No guru here, but this page might be helpful, especially question four:

https://adwords.google.com/select/fa...eshooting.html

I couldn't find a link to that page in Google's Help Center, but it does show up if you do a Google search on "keyword underperforms".

Re: Any Google Adwords Gurus here?

When you log into Adwords - the first page you come to should be the Campaign Management page. It should list all your campaigns.

Click on the name of the campaign that you want to change the keywords for.

This will take you to the Ad Group page - then click on the name of the ad group.

This will take you to the Ad itself and the keywords - to change or add keywords click on "Add Keywords" or "Edit Keywords"

Hope this helps - they are in the process of changing the way the keywords work - which is supposed to make things better/easier.

Re: Any Google Adwords Gurus here?

thanks guys. nice instruction, john. had google simply provided that information in their email to me i'd have been able to respond to their request instead of go searching for information off their website.
