Is FQ UBB friendly?

Hi,

I've heard great things about FQ and see the UBB working here...I'm planning a small site with a UBB that will probably get around 40-50 posts a day once I complete the site and get my posters off of Delphi which I now use. Nothing big, just a small forum.

I was hoping to hear from FQ customers regarding whether or not they welcome sites using these bulletion boards, because my current web host said "NO", just like that in big capital letters and I'm ready to dump them for that and other reasons including poor customer service and a pair of aggravating billing errors that have taken months to straighten out.

I've heard so many great things about FQ,and the people who use them as their host. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We are UBB friendly, though I must admit that it took a serious amount of work optimizing the servers for it...

I can understand the vast majority of hosts disallowing the UBB, because of it's heavy resource usage... But then again, I guess they don't take enough pride in their servers to tune them for maximum effect...

I will let the rest of our site owners fill in the rest, I only wanted to respond to the technical design aspects related to the server...

You know the first step to "recovery" is admitting you have a problem...

Paul, your post had me laughing!

I've never seen a forum with so many friendly people, including my own ;-)

Looks like I found myself a home..and a new host.

Terra,

Thank you for the explanation regarding UBB being a usage hog. I'd heard it was, but I guess I was a bit put off by the lack of explanation and one word reply I got.

Oh well, after getting replies from you and Deb answering my questions so quickly, and reading all the good words from your customers (Thank you Hearts!)I think I've found a new host and plan to sign up tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Yeah, I definitely recomend FutureQuest. Not only do they allow UBB, but they're experienced with running it too. All of their other services are also great, you'll like it. Hope This Helps. Good luck.
