Converting Images

This may have been asked before but none of my searches found what I was looking for.

I have quite a large number of bitmap files that I would like to convert to another format (such as gif or jpg) are there any programs out there that will conver them? I could do it one by one in photoshop but that is a bit too tedious since there are well over 100 of these images.

Any help or suggestions are welcomed!
TIA,
Brad

Irfanview could do batch conversions. The option is in the file menu. I've never used that feature though.

I believe Photoshop will do batch conversions.

I've used photoshop to batch convert - there may be an easier way but one way is to simply record a new action of the resampling, sharpening, and/or just the saveas you want. Then go to file -> automate -> batch and run it against a folder.

Corel Photopaint does fine with batch processing up to 100 images at at time.

Fireworks can also be handy to batch process images.

Paint Shop Pro also has a very nifty batch conversion utility. I've used it often, and it even produces a handy log.
