I'm not sure of ferret prices, but I think good ones can be had for less than $100.00...

I would recommend getting them while they are very young so that they are more adapt to bond...

Most important tip I could ever offer is: Don't blow in their face!

They don't like that and may end up piercing your nose for you...

All in all, they are great fun loving animals that have an insatiable curiosity streak...  I had mine (Kit) for 3 years and loved every moment of it...  My cat and it finally came to an understanding which made it much more enjoyable whereas before, all they would try to do was creatively eat each other...

Keep away from foam or soft rubber, including remote controls and certain types of shoes...

Thanks Terra and Dan!
I have been wanting one for a few years now and knew you (TeRRA) had one (Kit) so I thought I would ask here.
One of our dogs died Sunday night and our other dog we have had for 10 years seems a bit sad and thought a ferret would be a nice addition
Thanks!

Kit ate cat food - which is why the cat and the ferret would duke it out sometimes...

But if you leave your garbage unguarded, and your ferret is missing - look deep inside first...

Another thing, Kit was a scavenger meaning that if you start to miss stuff - look for their stash...  He especially liked snagging pieces of green paper, until he understood this was the true source of his cat food...

My aunt and uncle's family have had ferrets for many years...I couldn't have one -- they're cute, but I could never get used to their smell!!  How do you do it?

Like a dog, I don't think they're supposed to have chocolate??

I'll see if I can get a few tips from my cousins .
