Finding where you're ranked???

Is it possible to find where you're ranked on search engines against particular keywords???

I have a photojournalism-related site - say - for example, I want to know what # I'm at when someone types "photojournalism" into Google....is it possible to find out if the site is #297 or #2,329,323?

Thanks!

Try searching on http://www.google.com/ie instead of just http://www.google.com/ and set your result preferences to 100 per page. You'll still have to scan each page, but it will be much easier this way.

I thank my friend Mr.Web at http://www.seochat.com/ for this tip.

I just located this from that same seochat thread:

http://www.sowsoft.com/search-engines.htm

It is a free download (30 day shareware $60. lic.) that monitors your se position on several engines. It looks good, I haven't tried it yet but I will presently...

also this late arrival:

How do I set my result preferences to 100 per page from that page?

Set your preferences from the main Google page and when you use the /ie page they will carry over.

I road tested the SOWSOFT google-monitor and here's my review:

Maybe I'm missing something because there seems to be precious little functionality beyond what you could get by simply saving your /ie search pages to disk. $60 seems a bit steep for that. Maybe if you were monitoring dozens of URLs and dozens of keywords over time the stats would shape up, but for me I think that effort is better spent creating real content.
