Movable Type 2.51 CSS problem with IE 6.0?

I just installed Movable Type 2.51, but I notice there seems to be a rather large bug or bugs with the default templates/stylesheet and IE 6.0+. With Mozilla everything looks fine, but with IE, the default stylesheet causes the calendar on the left to be cut off and the body content to be wider than the actual browser window at either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 causing it to be difficult to read and a horizontal scroll bar. Everything looks fine in Mozilla, but not in IE 6.0.

Internet Explorer 6 Plain Jane Default Stylesheet
(notice calendar and links are not on the right as they should be)

Internet Explorer 6 Clean Default Stylesheet
(notice calendar is cut off and there is a horizontal scroll bar and body content is cut way beyond the browser)

Did others using Movable Type find an easy way to make the stylesheets work with Internet Explorer 6.0?

Or did you have to completely redo the templates with tables to overcome this issue?

Thanks!

Ok - interesting. It looks like I finally found a default stylesheet which does work with IE 6 - the Georgia Blue template which I believe was default on 2.21 or an older version of MT.

Now I have to figure out why that one works with IE 6.0 and the plainer newer templates cause these width problems, including the default template which installs with MT 2.51.

I guess it's finally time to learn to use and edit a css stylesheet.

I'd still like to hear from anyone who might have already pinpointed the problem(s) with the newer clean and plain jane stylesheets as I fear I'm a complete css newbie still and I'm not seeing it...

I'd read through the MovableType support forum on Stylesheets, and ask the questions there if you can't find an answer.

Here's a link to that forum: http://www.movabletype.org/cgi-bin/i...ff;act=SF;f=16
