I wish these forums had a spell checker, so I wouldn't have to use a
separate one when something looks funny. I used to have a spell checker that would check any text on the control-c clipboard, which was convenient enough.

I've been told that this PHP script will email you when google spiders your site. It seems to work for others.

Code Sample:

<?PHP
if(eregi("googlebot",$HTTP_USER_AGENT))
{
mail("andilinks@andilinks.com", "Googlebot detected on andilinks.com", "Google has crawled andilinks.com");
}
?>

It hasn't worked for me yet, but I haven't been playing with it too much. Googlebot stops on my site every two days or so, sometimes more often but this thing has yet to email me.

If I had a dollar for everytime I mispell this one I would be a very rich person! It's one of my 'always mispelled' ones. I'm glad Dreamweaver has spell check and I'm happier that I'm not selling anything here!

Spell Magic does this. Not cheap at 24.95, but it sure is handy.

I was taught this method by someone I felt knew a lot more than I did.
And I'm sure he knows more about the "tricks of the trade" than I do. But some people get obsessed with raising their Google rank and forget why they built the site in the first place (although sometimes that is why they built it ).

My internal spell checker is usually pretty good, but that's a feature I'd like to see. Every so often I have to check something in Google or Word -- sometimes I even use a dictionary.

Uh, Betsy? Better add "misspelled" to your list.

I have wished for a spell checker since I started typing on forums. Having one would be outstanding. Even if it was another button next to Preview Reply.

I found the download for the free clipboard spell checker I used to use:
Spell Checker for Edit Boxes
http://www.quinion.com/mqa/spell.htm

Looks like it may not work on NT/2000/XP. It works in Win9x, for the clipboard, but not in edit boxes, if I recall, because it's really a Win3.1 program.
