Simple Domain Move Issues

Hello

Just to announce the arrival/slow propagation of www.first-river.com to Dexter, and to give confidence (and a couple of tips) to those trying to manage their move. Thanks for all those who had posted questions about domain transfers before me and for all the outstanding help from AOTA and tech support at FutureQuest. It has made the process, admittedly of a very simple site, hassle free so far.

For others trying to move, it has been seamless (touch wood). I set up our e-mail accounts prior to the move and pre-installed web site files with a slight change to the homepage (as recommended) to indicate the new location. I also had everyone here set up new Outlook e-mail accounts with the new details - so that it produced an error until the domain name moved. (I thought the old accounts would then start producing an error, but they haven't so far.) Once those new accounts worked - every user had to make them the default account so that they sent from them as well as received to them. I know all this is basic stuff, but I hope it helps someone going through the same thing.

All pages, links and feeds, seem to be working fine. Uploading and editing files was a cinch with CNC. Again as indicated at the service desk, the nameserver registries don't all have the change yet, but I know, because you told me, that this means we're under way. Thanks for the guidance.

My current ISP screwed up the transfer initiation (I don't think they went through the full rigmarole that NS sets up) but after I initiated it myself it took only 24 hours to start the changes. (NB. I couldn't do it myself initially because my e-mail details were wrong. Memo to self: Keep your NS details updated!)

In any event, we're glad to be here and already delighted by the amount of FQ and community support. Thanks.

James

James -
Welcome!  I have been rewarded many times over by my membership in the Futurequest community.  It amazes me to look back over the last 18 months since I "joined" and realize how much I have learned and grown because of Andrew and Deb's approach.
It is also a mild shock to find another OD person here.  {Whatever OD is   }  If you figure it out, please help me explain it to my family.
