shameless plug, I got published!
I had a good feeling about today, and when I got home, found that an article I submitted to Gulf Coast Connections had been actually put in print. This magazine is the best and the largest fishing magazine on the upper Texas coast. It was sitting next to my bills in the mailbox today. I took an old concept that my web partner, and graphics guy, Bill Patterson, developed in 1998 and put the skills I have picked up since, along with some new content, and it turned out to be a winner. What I did was build 2 webpages, and from there, the publisher and editors were able to make it happen in print. Technology is a great thing, since I am more than 200 miles from where this magazine originates, and is distributed all up and down the coast. My thanks to Everette Johnson, and his wife Pam for including me in the September issue. I can barely believe it happened, it's the first time for me. I turn 41 on Sunday, and this has got the be the kewlest present I ever got. Well, except for getting married 16 years ago on this Friday. That's as good as it gets
If anyone wants to check it out, http://2coolfishing.com/garage/ is the link.

Congratulations!
Good for you. Getting published is, and always will be, in my top five experiences Just one of those things where it is difficult, if not impossible, to explain the feeling. Good fishing and birthdaying.

thanks y'all.
I got my bride a dozen yellow roses in a nice arrangement, a goofy card, and of course chocolate. My daughter was too funnny (and just a wee bit jealous) about the whole deal and said I should have skipped the roses and got more chocolate. It's hard to believe all we have been through in 16 years, and Stacy is now officially a biker. She took the 2 day motorcycle course and got her certifcation and took delivery on a barely used Yahama 650 yesterday. She still hasn't ridden it, but I think she plans to this weekend. She wants me to get one too, but I am going to pass as I still remember having no choice about riding one to college every day. There's something about a nice big Ford pickup with leather seats and a/c that appeals to me at this stage in life. We were going out to dinner tonight, but she just called and wants steak on the BBQ and crabs at home tonight. So, it's off the the Hong Kong Market this afternoon to get the fixin's.
The whole deal with getting published has been great, and it's hard to put into words the wonderful feeling it gives me to see my words in print. I think this tech section is going to become a permanent section of the magazine and even though it doesn't pay, it might lead to something else down the road that does. My first site didn't pay too much, lol, but I have since figured out how to make a few bucks here and there.
Thank goodness it's Friday!

Monty --
I used to be an MSF Chief Instructor (training instructors for the MSF rider training course). Sold my last motorcycle about three years ago.
Funny that was shortly before my new truck was delivered: 2000 F250SD ext cab long bed, 7-1/2' Western Pro plow, V10 5 sp, yadda yadda yadda. <grin>
