Sorry to say that I haven't been able to add much to the FQuest units since moving to Cyprus. Here in my village I'm restricted to a dial-up service whereas in Hong Kong I had always-on broadband. I'll continue to support when I can, though.

All strength to the Team!

joining the group

I've been trying to join the group for about a week but I don't show on this http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/s...eam_29694.html FutureQuest list of members, my name, 'limpfish.com', isn't there. I'm running SETI ok and I've submitted about 10 units.

Anyone know what's up?

What happens after you click Join at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/c...me=FutureQuest and enter your seti email address and seti password? I take it that it appears to go through and gives you a "success you have joined this group" page but you don't actually show up (I gave the dynamic URL because the static pages sometimes take a while to update)

When I moved from cable to dialup I discoverd how useful SetiDriver and the command line client could be - you set SetiDriver to cache the desired number of work units, for example a week's worth, and then to transmit only when you hit transmit. (I didn't like the screensaver dialing whenever it finished since I shared the line for voice.) Might still not be worth it to wait forever for workunits to download though unless you have the dialup account active anyway.

units not counted?

I've completed 189 units so far, but at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/s...eam_29694.html it only says 284, with the last one received on July 29. It's not that the page hasn't been updated, as far as I can see. What can be wrong?

Thanks,

Elek

Why do you say "It's not that the page hasn't been updated" - I would have guessed it was exactly that, with the html page lagging behind:

For example on the Dynamic CGI generated page I have 3996 work units completed last uploaded on Sat Aug 17, but on the Static html page I have 3945 work units completed last uploaded on Wed Aug 7. So it appears the html page hasn't been updated for 10 days, but I don't think that it's abnormal for it to trail like this.

Because I made a mistake... I saw "August 16" for somebody else's last unit sent in, and failed to notice that it was 2000, not 2002. Sorry!
