EZMLM and AOL

The AOL users on my EZMLM lists are telling me that the messages are coming from "unknown sender" - and often delete the messages assuming they're spam.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Thanks

If it's not a huge number you could send them to someone who has a spare AOL s/n and then forward it from there... Just a thought, most AOL members don't use all seven available screen names. AOL will disable an account that sends to more than 300 recipients in one email, they also have a daily limit too. If it's not an all day chore, I'd do it...

Well, they're list messages - so I don't see how the messages could be re-routed?

How are you sending the messages, Marbledog? By typing/pasting your message into the EZMLM textbox in your CNC, or by emailing the message from your regular email client to the list address?

When sending messages via the CNC, the "from" address contains just the list-owner email address, with no associated name. By emailing from your client, you can also include a name with your address... maybe that's what the AOL filters are looking for? It certainly makes your emails look more friendly and personal anyway. (My guess is you're doing that anyway though).

The other likely problem is that the To field isn't the recipient's address (it's the email address of your list). From what I know of EZMLM, that can't be changed without causing a huge performance hit, so there's nothing we can do about it

I really have no experience of AOL, so I'm just trying to suggest any ideas that I can.

I only send e-mail from my e-mail software - and it's not just me sending the messages, it's an e-mail list, so messages are coming from many sources.

All messages are "To" the list address. I don't get how that would cause AOL to say "unknown sender"

Are your AOL users subscribed to any other mailing lists that don't give the "unknown sender" error? Could they maybe forward a couple of those emails to you so you can check the headers, see if that gives a clue why AOL is rejecting messages from your list?

Is AOL giving an error with these messages, or just replacing the from field with the text "unknown sender"? Perhaps I've misinterpreted your original post... but either way, I'm not sure what to suggest Sorry!
