Coding-challenged, need advice on web page building program.

I have never designed a web page and really don't want to learn how; but, I am willing to try if I can find a free or near free program that will make it easy.

As with everyone here, I know how to insert pictures and text into a word processor. Are there any programs out there that makes building a web page as easy or near as easy as using a word processor?

I don't need to build anything fancy just yet. I just need to get some images and text out there just now.

Actually, most word processors can export a web page if all you want is text and images.

It gets more complicated when you want stuff like dynamic content or shopping carts. Those generally require you to install one of many available applications on your hosting account.

Anyways, http://www.kompozer.net/ is the free program that many people start with. Dream Weaver is the expensive choice that pros use.

If you decide to use KompoZer or Dreamweaver and are looking for some guides, you might want to check out thesitewizard.com:
KompoZer Web Editor Tutorials
Dreamweaver Tutorials

They have quite the assortment, and we hear they're quite good.

Disclosure: "thesitewizard.com is hosted at FutureQuest, and indeed has been on this host since 2000."...which just goes to say that they also have impeccable taste in hosts.

Re: Coding-challenged, need advice on web page building program.

If you are not so saddle-fast in coding or html, css or layouts, I would recommend a "ready-to-go" CMS like Joomla!, Typo3, etc.
Both are complete free of charge and you find free templates within the web. Joomla! for example, is easy to install and it's not so hard to understand how it works. The WYSIWYG editors for Joomla! are quite simple and you can easily add pictures and so on. Sometimes I use the editors to create the correct HTML code. You can switch between WYSIWYG or source code of the content.
