Apache 2.x+ for Joomla

I have just started looking into Joomla as an option for my museum's new web site and would like to start playing around with it here to see what it can do. The specs for the latest version of Joomla require 2.x+ Apache, but my account -- on ZAT (Genesis Class) -- says the version installed is 1.3.41. That version of Apache can support older Joomla versions. I'm just wondering if I can look forward to a newer version of Apache soon (there seems to be a mention of it in the holiday announcement in December if I'm reading correctly). Thanks for your help!

Re: Apache 2.x+ for Joomla

Our Apache 2.x is still under development and the project ended up being way more complicated than originally foreseen with the module conversions and numerous core level changes required...

On the surface though, I don't see any reason why Joomla wouldn't work with Apache 1.3 series as it wouldn't have any access to the Apache internals where the difference between 1.3 and 2.x matters...

I think the requirement is mostly just for documentation, as sending people to download and use 1.3 wouldn't make sense (documentation wise)...

Re: Apache 2.x+ for Joomla

Thank you Terra. I wasn't really sure what part Apache plays in Joomla land. I appreciate the response.
