A Good Story

Hello fellow FQ webmasters,

I just wanted to take a moment and share my best experience in two plus years of working on my site.

The moderator of this forum, Greg, offered to help me via a private email message when I requested assistance here in this forum for a baseball fan with knowledge of .php.

Greg was not a baseball fan but he was truly incredible. I worked with an author of a few books on php programming and Greg, in my opinion, was better than that author!

Imagine being asked to look at a mySQL dump, look at a roughly put together .shtml page, and being told quite a few parameters about something (baseball statistics to be precise) you know nothing about. Greg did exactly that and three days later (I would guess he probably spent only a few hours on it though) he handed me a finished script that worked like a charm!

How well? I spent nearly two hours trying to break it and could not find a single mistake. Because of his help and his knowledge I was able to add exactly 100 new dynamic pages the day after he gave me the script! I still have 124 more to go.

On top of all that, he saw that the three previous scripts that I had on my site were not using my newer include files (a menu control, a navigational control, and a copyright). Without being asked he made the modifications to those as well and handed me working copies of them as well.

I simply cannot begin to express my thanks enough and if you EVER get the opportunity to employ his services - he comes with Baseball Almanac's highest regards. My only wish is that I had the financial backing needed to keep him all to myself

Sean
