FutureQuest obtained the 69.5.0.0/19 IP block directly from
ARIN in 2002, and we must now return our upstream carrier IP allocations to the respective providers. FutureQuest has accordingly renumbered its IP addresses to fulfill
ARIN contractual obligations.
The upstream IP allocations are scheduled to be returned on May 20th, 2004
The returned IP addresses will be completely turned off by June 1st 2004.
This notice concerns any hosting package that was assigned an IP address by FutureQuest prior to December 1st, 2002.
If your domain was set up after December 1st, 2002 then your IP Address has not been changed. This is because packages set up after December 1st, 2002 were allocated an IP address from the /19 block of IP Addresses that FutureQuest obtained directly from
ARIN. If your domain name was set up prior to December 1st, 2002 then that domain's IP Address has likely been changed.
Note: Packages that overlay other packages, such as IRMs and IROs, share the same IP address as the full hosting package that they overlay. This means that even if the IR is new the IP address may be old depending on when the full package was activated.
We have been working behind the scenes, through the months of March and April 2004, to retrofit the servers to accept both the old and new IP addresses. All affected domains have been renumbered in our DNS tables and propagated to the Internet DNS servers.
The Domain Name Servers have also been updated. The new name server information can be found on the
Domain Name Registration and the
DNS Modification pages.
What this means for you:
The majority of Site Owners:
If you do not use your IP Address for the development of your web site (e.g. within scripts or html code or handle your own DNS) and/or your package was set up after December 1st, 2002 then there is likely nothing at all that you need to do. FutureQuest has done everything in its power to make this transition as transparent as possible.
Domain Name Registration and DNS Modifications
For the majority of registrars the new name server IP addresses will automatically be recognized. There should be no reason for you to need to make any changes with your existing domain name registrations. For those who register several domains, or are planning to register or transfer domains in the future, simply update your records to ensure you are using the correct IP addresses for the FutureQuest Domain Name Servers. Again the updated information can be found on the
Domain Name Registration and the
DNS Modification pages.
If you use your IP address for coding and/or your DNS is handled by anyone other than FutureQuest
If you reference your IP address specifically within your code, and your IP address has changed, you will need to make yourself aware of the new IP address and update your files accordingly.
The majority of Site Owners allow FutureQuest to manage the DNS for their domain. If you are not aware of anyone else handling DNS for your domain, do not know what a DNS Server is, or are not maintaining the DNS yourself, then you need not worry about these changes. However, if you do maintain your own DNS, or have authorized a third party to do so, then you will need to update the DNS as quickly as possible.

If your IP address already began with the numbers 69.5 then it has not changed.
All other IP addresses have been updated.

The IP renumbering conversion table is as follows:
Note the first three octets of affected IP addresses have changed. The last octet remains the same as it was prior to the change. For example: If your IP address was 63.151.147.20 then it is now 69.5.28.20
(*) 63.151.147.20 through .82 has been changed to 69.5.28.20 through .82
(*) 63.151.147.210 through .254 has been changed to 69.5.28.210 through .254
Otherwise: 63.151.147.x has been changed to 69.5.6.x
63.144.24.x has been changed to 69.5.11.x
63.144.222.x has been changed to 69.5.0.x

63.151.113.x has been changed to 69.5.4.x
63.151.114.x has been changed to 69.5.5.x
63.151.115.x has been changed to 69.5.7.x

66.151.32.x has been changed to 69.5.17.x
66.151.33.x has been changed to 69.5.18.x
66.151.34.x has been changed to 69.5.19.x
66.151.35.x has been changed to 69.5.20.x
NOTE: IP Address changes for MySQL Servers were addressed in a separate thread last month.
For those affected, please begin updating
now, noting that after May 20th, and certainly by June 1st, the old IP addresses will fail to function as desired. If you should have any questions concerning this notice do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help make this transition as smooth as possible for all.
