While there might be some hosts which charge somewhat less, FutureQuest is by a very long end the best deal you will ever find for hosting your web site.

They way they run the place is awfull. I just regret that I signed up on January 1st and missed my t-shirt.

Maybe some blackmail will work:
Can I still get one if I pay in advance for a year?

While I'm sure my comments are somewhere in those that Sheila posted, I'll say it again...

I went through four hosts during the first seven months of 1999.  Between broken promises, high downtime, slow connections, poor support and a combination of other bad experiences, I was about ready to give up on my site in July of 1999.  Then I came to FutureQuest... I've been with them ever since and my sites have been on a steady growth.  Any other questions?

I know there is a chance I hit the bottom four, but two of them were big companies highly recommended.  None of them matches FutureQuest.  If it is a few more bucks I never noticed because I was actually working on developing my sites, not fretting over them being down.  And, as my wife will tell you, I'm good at fretting.

Wait a second, here... there are t-shirts involved?

I didn't get a t-shirt... and the one I've been wearing every day since Christmas, 1997, is wearing rather thin and, uh, doesn't smell as nice as it once did, either.

I could really use a new one [hint hint].

I used to use ASP whenever possible when building my sites.  When I first looked at the packages offered at FutureQuest, none of them included ASP.  In addition, they  offered too many pop accounts and not enough disk space for the lower priced packages.  However, after reading the users' comments about FQ in their forums, and considering how bad my ex-host was, I thought I'd give FQ a try.

I just had to see for myself if all this was true.  I joined FQ around 9/2000 and been with them since.  Everything is excellent.  Now, I'm so addicted to FutureQuest that I completely let go of ASP and started learning new things.

It's amazing how there is so much technology and talent out there but no hosting company that can offer what FQ is offering.

Tony.

That's because FQ is offering your themselves. Their hearts. They put their hearts into this business and are running it with a level of integrity and concern that you seldom see in any business, not just web hosting.

hehe - I take it you like them Sheila!
Well, heck, yeah. I like any business that takes the trouble to develop a personal relationship with me, who keeps the lines of communication open, who is honest in all their dealings, who demonstrates their concern for my wants and needs. How many businesses, in any industry, do you know that do that?

When I picked all those links at the beginning of this thread, to other discussions about FQ and whether they are any good, it was because this question gets asked frequently. And then we all repeat the good things we're saying about FQ all the time. I thought, maybe I could collect them in one place and we wouldn't have to keep answering this question over and over. (It's the Usenet moderator in me, I guess. We need a FAQ on this question.)

I know I didn't include threads with much in the way of negative comments. And there are threads on the server where the site owner is very angry with FQ and the discussion isn't pretty. The three that come to mind:
1. When we upgraded to PHP4 on the servers, it broke some people's sites, and some were quite upset about it.
2. When they switched the location of the NOC, there were DNS problems with some people's sites, and the sites were inaccessible for some period of time.
3. Some site owners with really successful sites had to get dedicated servers and leave FQ. There was one ugly situation where FQ closed down a site before the owner had completed their transfer.

However, the discussion on all of these was public, and FQ exlained their position, and I think that in every case their position showed care for the FQ community of sites and that they acted in good faith as to what was best for everyone. I believe that these disgruntled site owners were unreasonable in their complaints.

I would like to see certain tools upgraded on the server that I'm on, and I guess it is going to be a while, but it is nowhere as important as the relationship that I have with FQ.

I'm convinced, I'm convinced!

LOL

My only problem with the packages is tht if I get enough disk space, I am paying for way more bandwidth than I need. I have a question about that. I had some of my family take a look at what FQ ofers. One seemed to think that I could get the Gold package, plus 40 additional mb of directory space, and put both domains on that. I am pretty sure that's not what is meant by putting extra domains on though - I assume it means putting subdomains on, like sub.yourdomain.com.

So, as I say, none of the packages really fits my needs. I am poor and I can't afford to buy two silver packages and pay for a lot of unused bw and space, and it looks to me like that's what I would have to do.

You are obviously all making good money off the net. I am making an average of 100 dollars a month, and that is a substantial part of my total income of 500 a month. So doubling my site costs is simply not feasible.

But I don't have to move for a few months yet, so I will keep checking. Maybe a new package will be ofered or something. I certainly would like to move here, it sounds great. I would LOVE to be with a server that offers what you have all told me about - good service!

Okay, that would work for me I think!

How does it work, having two domains on one account? Do you have separate ftp for them? Do they each  have a unique ip?

Thanks very much for your time Sheila, I really appreciate it.
