FQuest Announce: New Starter Package

There has been a long-time request for a smaller package at a lower cost while still maintaining the same great uptime and server tools that FutureQuest offers. We are excited to announce that this package has finally arrived for the New Year!

Visiting the Packages and Package Comparison pages will reveal FutureQuest's new "Starter Package" which is a fully functional package that includes 35 MB of disk space, 2 GB of bandwidth and 5 full POP email accounts in addition to all of the other goodies such as CGI, PHP, Pre-Installed Scripts, ability to add extra domains, the CNC etc…

The Starter Package is available for $12.95 Monthly or $95.40 Annually. (The annual cost works out to a mere $7.95 per month!)

Reseller Note: The Starter Package does not qualify for the Reseller's Advantage, as its costs are already as low as we could realistically make them while maintaining server integrity. We will however add 1 point for each Annual Starter Package you order. Please reference http://www.FutureQuest.net/Services/Resellers/ for the current Reseller's Advantage information.

For those looking for something a bit more cozy for their site, we hope you find the Starter Package to be just the thing. This package may also be helpful for those with IRMs that require a bit more in the features area (such as individual stats) but aren't quite ready yet for a package the size of the Basic.

Enjoy !!

I just went looking for my limit on IRMs and saw the new package information. Took a quick double take and a search on the forums to make sure I hadn't missed anything in the week I've been away and was just about to post here when I see all these new announcements.

This is great. Even better than that T-shirt a couple of Christmases ago. FutureQuest really does just get better and better.

Thanks for this and everything.

Amazing...

FQ must be reading my mind. This is just what I was looking for with regards to one of my other domains - and I have already been through three hosts and totally dissatisfied with all three of them (heck, FQ set the bar WAY too high!).

At last, one of my other domains can come home. Thank you FQ!

Converting an IRM to the new package

Ok, great news about the new starter package option. Ordered one right away for an active IRM I have.

But now, in my limbo stage, my site is down and pages the do come up only state "file does not exist." Should I have taken other steps to upgrade an IRM to a full starter package or is this just a normal thing I (and others) will have to anxiously wait out?

Knowing the FQ team, I won't be in the dark long, but I wanted to ask the question in case I majorly screwed things up.

Thanks!

Hello Kevin,

This is normal whenever you change an IR to a Full package as noted in the Service Desk FAQs:
"However, if you change an account from a full package to something like an IRM, IRO, Parked Domain, or ER, then there will be an interruption in service as this involves removing the full package and setting up the smaller one on a different IP number. The same would be true if you were to switch from one of the smaller options such as the IRM to a full package because again, we would be removing the IRM and setting up the full package on a different IP number."

Hope this helps explain the issue,
Bob

When a package is changed from an External Redirection, Parked, or Internally Redirected (IRM/IRO) domain to a different package, the existing package must be deleted before the new package can be setup. The same would be true where a full package downgrades to anything but a full package.

If the package is changing from a Starter, Basic, Silver, Gold, or Platinum account to a Starter, Basic, Silver, Gold, or Platinum account, the account does NOT need to be deleted and all files remain in tact. The main thing changed here is the amount of resources that are allocated to the existing account. Note however that where an account had MySQL access and it downgrades to a package without MySQL access, the MySQL access is removed.

The key is, no two accounts may share the same domain name or username at the same time on the server.

In your case we needed to remove the IRM account to free up the domain name for the full account on its own IP.

We do try to make it as quick as possible but it is something worth considering when you upgrade or downgrade to a package that will require the domain name to be "moved" to a different location on the servers. In these cases there is also a small amount of propagation since the IP address also changes.

I hope this helps to clarify

Thank you!!

Thanks Deb...it does clarify things. It was my hunch, but then I've boffed things before, so I felt it was worth asking.

FQ is the BEST!!
