DHTML layer timeout

I need to make a layer hidden after your mouse moves off of it after a few seconds. Does anyone know how to do this, or can point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Are you referring to doing a sub menu type deal, where when you hover over it, it will display another layer, and when you move your mouse that layer goes away?

If this is what you need, the following url might help:

No, I'm not talking about the pop up menus, however the end functionality is the same, just graphically different. Maybe I can tweak the code to work for my purposes. Any other ideas? I'm dealing with basic DHTML div layers that contain clickable images, but it is not a pop up menu. Thanks for the example, I'll check it out.

Is it possible to use Javascript to do this? An onMouseOut on the layer or something? I'm not sure how you do a timer, but if you could put a delay in the function and then just change the layer properties to be hidden you might be alright.

I've seen it done.. Pichu in the Delphi forums had a link panel in his sig that was semi-transparent (using alpha) until you moved your mouse over, then faded back out a few seconds after you moved out.
