Flash Sites

Greetings one and all,

I was interested in trying to find some information about flash sites and how to develop them - if I'm a little technocratically challenged (ie: can kind of Navigate Frontpage 2002) is it possible to learn how to develop a flash site without a lot of experience and can anyone tell me the best way to go about it? Any help is greatly appreciated as well as any links to cool web sites I can check out to get ideas.
Thanks so much for any assistance
Susan

Probably the nexus for all things Flash is FlashKit -- http://www.flashkit.com/ -- unfortunately, the site may be slow. They seem to be having difficulty keeping up with the traffic load.

Flash does have a steep learning curve, though, so it's good to pick up a book or two: I recommend Flash 5 Magic and Foundation Flash 5. There are lots of bad books, so do your homework first. I just picked up the Flash 5 Bible but it looks like they didn't proofread that text very carefully... lots of errors in it. Likewise, there were a lot of errors in the Flash 4 f/x and Design book I bought a while back... so I steer clear of Coriolis Group titles whenever possible. I never buy books from Macromedia, because I think that just encourages them to write cursory manuals so they can sell more comprehensive "books" later.

Some Flash resources on the web:
http://www.flashkit.com
http://www.were-here.com
http://www.pixeljunction.com
http://www.designsbymark.com
(Also make sure to check their forums for extra tips and how to's)

For some Flash sites for you to look at, check out the "Places to go sites to see" forum here on FQuest at http://www.aota.net/forums/forumdisp...p?s=&forumid=9

Good Luck

Tony and John,
thanks for your ideas - I see I have lots to do. Took a look at your art work John, it's great!

Tony, I saw another post you did on frontPage 2002 which is what I'm presently using - you said "Since I've moved to DW, I've stopped using FP2002 altogether." - can you tell me what DW is?
Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks for the complement!

I'd also recommend the switch to Dreamweaver. I don't use it much, but I work with people who use Dreamweaver, and it's much easier to modify their code than it is to modify code written with Front Page. Actually, I use that as a filter when job hunting: Do they require me to use Front Page? If so, I don't send a resume.
