Can't send mail

No posts about this at the time of writing, so...

I'm currently unable to send mail. After trying to connect to the host, I get:

Quote:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'buffyguide.com', Server: 'mail.buffyguide.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Tried a different user on our other computer, and got:
Quote:
An error occurred while sending mail: SMTP server error. The server responded: (null) Contact your mail administrator for assistance.
So, I'm contacting.   No settings have been changed on either computer/mail program, and it was hunky-dory a little while ago.

Have you run the PORT 25 test yet?  The error points to a Port 25 block by your ISP.

Visit http://www.aota.net/Troubleshooting/port25.php3 to see how to run the test....

We've checked everything out on this end and SMTP is fully operational.

Ach. So we do the test, and it can't connect to Port 25, so we call them, and they claim it's not blocked. 5 minutes of confusion later, they suddenly realize this must be related to the fact that they're having some mail server problems, and no one can send mail at all. Grr.

Well, then, sorry about that. It's just that since it happened all of a sudden, we naturally assumed something had gone bad. (Well, we were right -- just not about whose something had gone bad.   ) Our humble apologies.
