Top Or Bottom?

The reason the "Members" forums ended up on top started as an accident, and when I saw it I thought hmmmmm

Not sure though -- you guys like them on top or do you think they should go back to the bottom?

Either is fine with me.

As for what to leave open and what to close... I think I'll ponder it for a while since we need to wait for 5.30 anyway to see what changes they do end up making to the system... please continue feedback if you have further thoughts about it.. thanks!

Tell you what. If you were to use the idea of three categories, one members only, one all read/member write, and one public, I'd put the public on top, etc...

This way prospective customers aren't put off by the words "Members Only" right away - they'd have to scroll to see that. Know what I mean?

I guess it's psychological. Personally I like it this way, because that's about the order I visit the forums - but for the general public, it might seem friendlier to welcome them with the public forums first

Just an opinion - like I said, I actually like it this way myself, but that's not what's important...

<edit>
Another thought - how about adding a forum just for ppl to ask questions of those of us hosted here... where registering isn't required? Just on the one forum. Then ppl would be more inclined to ask about how we like it here.

Just another random thought Lots of those today

whew.. these questions are getting to be a bit personal.. ROFL.

as for preferences.. they are never the same, depends on the mood. <evil grin> .. i think i am laughing at my own jokes today.. giggle.

and on the subject of random thoughts. I don't know what the demand would be, but couldn't java scripting and CGI be separated?

and I think I like this new look, but I tend to agree with Justin on this.. and I prefer debating with him cuz it is more fun. BUT for the new ones popping in to see what is up, I think the open forum would be best listed first.

However, this is FQ and it is all about FQ. SO, having server news makes it more important to be listed first. And shows your dedication to us.

I gotta think on what Justin asked... trying to decide if it would be necessary.. or practical. As part of me feels that it would look like begging.. and I think that interlacing this with open discussions is best.. cuz after you answer that question a few times how you like it at FQ, you, you kinda get bored with repeating yourself. I mean really.. how many different ways can we say we are happy here.. we love our tech support, and Terra, Andrew, and CC Tech are all one people? I think I would begin to avoid that if it were a speparate thread.

ain't it great.. experimenting with new positions? *ROFL*

hearts.. being silly today!

i'm baaaaaaaaack.. i think the way the forum is set up now is probably best. It is not like it is a long list.. and if one can read, they will notice the open community. Just looking at it.. (I am going back and forth between two windows) Makes it professional. I would correct that typo though.. shouldn't it read.. "domains" rather than domain hosted by FQ?

For those that need the extra hint i would put something like this Open Community (visitors welcome)

PPC == Power PC, like a Mac that is PC compatible (so they say...)

Sort of like a Big Mac

Key point -- Our goal and job is to work for you guys first... the rest second. We need new clients to stay in business of course but a good way to accomplish that is to take care of the ones we have. If it's more common for the clients to visit and need to view the members forums first and keep an eye on them easily... I think top is where they should be

Thanks Deb You're the best... Justin, Armand, and anyone else wanting to know what PPC stands for, read this thread

http://www.aota.net/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000009.html

p.s. All new Macs are PC compatible if you buy a program called Virtual PC.
