Silly SysAdmin trick #8: Do not release your swap drives when a kernel is being stress tested...

Early this morning, I was stress testing some new kernel performance enhancements on the NINE server and accidently released one of my swap drives forcing the kernel to de-allocate rather abruptly causing lru-page errors which in turn ended up OOPSing the kernel...

This forced me to take a drive and restart the server, as the watchdogs were still signalling and not allowing the server to recover on it's own...

My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused...

Hey Terra, I noticed a bit of down time this morning with my site and these forums...like 10-15 mins at best... was Taz affected or something perhaps? Just curious.

TAZ and SIX were not down at all... the only thing that may have occurred is the DNS lookup would have been a bit slower...

Guess I should have mentioned I got a no DNS error on TAZ for that time.
