free email server

Awhile back there was a brief discussion here about a free email server program a few people were using on their local machines.  Our church is looking for something like this, but I've searched and searched here but can't find the answer here.

Can someone point me to the thread or make suggestions?  It's an NT box...

If your box is running NT 4 (Server, and not Workstation), you may be able to get by with the SMTP server that comes with IIS 3. If you don't already have the NT Option pack installed (which includes the web server, FTP server, and the SMTP server) you might try that. It may be what you need, but I'm not sure how robust it is, and what features there are.

The previous discussions you are referring to are probably ArGoSoft's smtp mail server. Actually, it provides smtp, pop and finger.
You can get it here:
www.argosoft.com

There are many other mailservers available, some free, some not. If you want to really look into it, try these URL's:
http://winfiles.cnet.com/apps/nt/servers-mail.html
http://serverwatch.internet.com/mailservers.html
<added>
http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Softwa.../Servers/Mail/
</added>

Hope this helps. The ArGoSoft server was real easy to get up and running, FWIW.
