EZ MLM How many subscribers

Hi There, I have a couple of questions before I think too much about using EZ MLM for mailing lists, if anyone has any experience with this and can help that would be more than great.

1. I have a list of about 60 thousand names, emails go out only occasionally, perhaps one a month. Would EZ MLM handle this amount of work? Would this have an effect on either my site or other domains sharing that server?

2. How Do I go about adding my existing email addresses to the ez mlm lists, should I connect it all up to a mysql database, how, and would it make a speed difference, or just make it all more flexible.

Thanks!
David

We could not possibly allow a list of this size. While we do not have specific set limits, the absolute maximum subscriber base would be around 1000, preferably around 500.

Something like what you describe would require either a dedicated server, our outsourcing your lists to a service which specializes in mailing lists (such as ListBot).

I would suggest using something like http://www.listbot.com/ to handle your mailing list. I have used them for some time and it works great.

I use egroups.com for my list of 2000 or so -- the free service they offer is excellent.

No one in the world is going to host a list of 60k without your word in blood that the names were obtained in a legit fashion - 100% opt in only.

If you are looking for a place to send a list of names you scraped off of usenet and via search engine crawlers, your best off not going with a company and doing it yourself via some of the email list management software the spammers use.

Not only that - if the list is not opt-in, you are going to find that any marketing results are not worth the headache it took to find a way to send that many emails out in the first place.

If you come across a decent solution - let me know -- I'm sure egroups would host it if you could convince them the entire thing is legit -

thanks heath.. yeh, it seems that I may have to work out the whole thing with dedicated servers and software myself, which is a huge pain and not worth the effort or money.

I will check out egroups though, thanks. we would rather pay for the service and have no advertising of course. Our list is 100% legit. I work for a Christian Rock Band (newsboys) that sell a huge amount of albums, so 60 000 signups is just people going to the site and requesting they be added to the announcements list, and I would say that number will grow once I start trying harder to get names.

I had no idea though that those leased services would be so expensive. My boss thinks its okay to spend a couple of thousand getting things set up, I just have to figure whether outsourcing will be better in the long run anyways.

hey there, thanks for getting back to me on that.

yep, the mailing list thing is a total pain, if anyone has any good advice on which service to go with, that would be terrific..

Does FutureQuest rent dedicated servers? how cheaply would we get away with at least the server side of things.

Also, seeing as mailing lists are kind of sporadic use, does anyone know of a sort of "mailing list server sharing" type arrangements that could be made?

thanks though!
