[FQuest Notice] PHP 5.2.12 Upgrade

What: PHP5 upgrade
Date: March 6, 2010 (Saturday Night)
Window: 10:00 PM - 5:00 AM ET
Duration: 5 minutes (per server)

The upgrades taking place are as follows:
PHP5: PHP5 will be upgraded to 5.2.12 (from 5.2.6)

Components upgraded:
1) PHP5 non-SSL
2) PHP5 SSL (**is now linked to OpenSSL for fopen() wrappers)
3) PHP5 CGI/CLI

This upgrade should be transparent and Site Owners should have no need to take any action at this time.

This is a necessary PCI Compliance, security and stability release which should not impact operational scripts and will also provide some new features as well.

PHP upgrades affect only those sites that are currently using PHP scripting.

Upgrades will be beginning shortly...

SEVEN, TAZ, and MQS0001 will receive the upgrade first, and then a period of observation looking for any major problems...

I will post up when moving forward with the remaining Community Servers...

TAZ ApacheSSL/PHP has been reverted to 5.2.6 until the pthread linkage is successfully removed...

SEVEN and MQS0001 are in full production with no observed problems...

TAZ is now running the updated ApacheSSL/PHP engine...

The first three servers are not showing any problems, therefore I am proceeding forth with all servers...

All Apache/PHP engines have been upgraded, including the SSL engines... Downtime for each was less than 2 minutes...

Moving forward with updating the CGI/CLI binaries...

And thus brings to a close another fun filled PHP5 upgrade adventure...

This one went smoother than most, and so far I have not seen any problems yet...
