Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
Hi, I want to edit the text in my sub_confirm file. I can't find it in my text directory, however. In fact, my text directory is completely empty except for a file that's titled "trailer". I also tried sending an e-mail to announcements-edit.sub_confirm@lists.kideh.com, but I got a message saying that it couldn't be delivered.

Re: Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
You would want to review this Knowledgebase Article.

Quote:
To set up a custom Subject line, first navigate to your mailing list directory. For example, if your domain name is domain.com, your login name is "username" and your mailing list's name is "listname", the directory for that list would be found at:
/big/dom/xdomain/username/listname/text
Within that directory, create a file named messages. In that messages file, you can list the Subjects you want to change...

Hope this helps,
Bob

Re: Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
Sorry, I guess I must've been asking for something else. I was actually hoping to find a way to edit the text within the body of the confirmation e-mail that's sent out when people sign up for my mailing list.
I was looking for how to change the subject line as well though, so thanks for the link.

Re: Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
I was trying to follow the directions to the last article you linked to before starting this thread. From what I can tell, it sounds like my text directory should have a bunch of files already in it. But mine is empty except for a file called "trailer" and the file I created called "messages". I want to edit the sub-confirm file in my text directory (not sub_confirm as I had mistakenly written when I first posted in this thread). Am I supposed to create the sub-confrim file first?

Re: Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
It used to be that those files were already created and in the text folder, but since the recent upgrade to the mailing lists, lists created since the upgrade will not have those files automatically created. But you can create them yourself if they are not already there. Yes.
We will need to review that Knowledgebase article and make that more clear. Sorry for any confusion.

Re: Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
That's alright. And sorry, I have one more question. What do I put in the sub-confirm file so that it will display the e-mail address that my subscribers have to respond it in order to be added?
I don't know how to get this type of e-mail address displayed: announcements-sc.1248150902.ghdfjalogejpjodnnpha-eward25=yahoo.com@lists.kideh.com.

Re: Trouble finding and editing sub_confirm
Here is a copy of the default sub-confirm file template:
Quote:
To confirm that you would like
!A
added to the <#l#> mailing list, please send
an empty reply to this address:
!R
Usually, this happens when you just hit the "reply" button.
If this does not work, simply copy the address and paste it into
the "To:" field of a new message.
This confirmation serves two purposes. First, it verifies that I am able
to get mail through to you. Second, it protects you in case someone
forges a subscription request in your name.
|
!A indicates the potential subscriber address
!R indicates the reply address to which the subscriber should reply in order to be subscribed to the list.
