Hello there
Hi there all,
I wandered into the forum I think likely over a year ago, searching for a web host. Due to a lot of terrifying life things I only slid back today to finally start up something I've been trying to do for years, being start my own little business/website. So just wanted to say hello again
I've already managed to be an idiot and left an "e" out of my first attempt at ordering here... but at 3am in the span of 20 minutes after I missed the error myself and asked for help, I was answered by someone I think to dub "Arthur the kind who also never sleeps".
I agonised over which host to use and even checking back here a year later, I didn't feel as comfortable with others as with what I saw here. And it's already proven excellent, and not even an inkling of seeking to gouge me for the error.
So hello and hurray for FQ?

Re: Hello there
Hello and welcome. I am amazed that more do not choose the best, FQ. I'm sure the owners here share my amazement.

Re: Hello there
Just to put my 2-cents in. I also agonized over a new host for months - researched, read, plowed thru all kinds of good & bad top 10 lists, took all the 'tours', spent time on the phone and thru support tickets with a dozen or more... this is the only place that ever gave me the 'right' feeling. Been here a year now, and have been extremely happy and impressed over and over again!

Re: Hello there
Hello,
FQ webhosting costs a bit more, but its performance, customer service and forums are second to none.

Depends on the comparison - to godaddy? yeah, FQ is more $$, but I've friends using godaddy, they get nothing for their $9-15/mo, and I have to bail them out regularly. Compared to Earthlink, try triple the $$ for about the same, except absolutely 0 service. Look around, for any host even close to 50% this level of professional, FQ is cheaper.

Ive compared Futurequest to a multitude of webhosts when I switched over a year ago and yes, at the time of my comparison, FQ was definitely more expensive for a given storage and bandwidth than the average webhost. I did not say this is an evil thing. If I did, I would not have joined Futurequest and then renewed this year.

Indeed, it is more often "the cheap" where evil resides. Or said another way, you get what you pay for.

Re: Hello there
Tigerlilly:
Thanks! Thats good to hear, I used to do website design back in the days when notepad was the pinnacle of editors, trying to figure out things now is somewhat overwhelming =P
On cost:
Aye, it's more expensive than quite a few I looked at, but it's also balanced I think because of all the options and modules, etc. Part of me is still a little nervous about the bandwidth honestly, but I suppose I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it
My thought process was though, would I rather pay more to be comfortable in the knowledge that -should- I ever need support its there, or pay less, keep an offering handy and instead hope for divine intervention should an event occur?
Maybe it's a Canadian thing, I like my social healthcare for the same reason I'd hate my last words on this planet to be "I just had a heart attack, of course I didn't remember to bring my wallet..." Much, as since my business is going to be completely web based, I'd hate my words as I enter bankruptcy to be "I wish I'd chosen a reliable host". ;P
