Mailing list with an alias

I want to do exactly what Beckles asks about in this thread. I want to create an alias for an EZMLM address with about 30 addresses in it i.e. alias@example.com will forward to address@lists.example.com. I just want to check that nothing has changed since 2003 and this is still OK. Is it?

Re: Mailing list with an alias

Hello Joe,

Actually your intent is fine however the mechanisms of ezmlm have changed as ezmlm-idx is now in use and ezmlm-idx requires that the To: or CC: address match that of the mailing list address.

This is discussed in this Thread:

You will note that Sheila indicates creating a custom filter for the alias address to rewrite the email headers to alter the To: or CC: address is a possible solution.

Actually, there is another solution in the last post of that thread, by pottermm. Do heed his caution, however, that using the CNC afterwards to modify the list in any manner will overwrite any changes to the .qmail-listname file.
