Re: We need a freelance game programmer.

Maybe someone here can tell you where to find free games that you can put on your website (I don't know if there are any), but nobody is going to create a new game just for a link on a new website. Maybe for a few thousand dollars they will. There's other free content you can add too, like public domain images, but you should think of something free AND original.

Off the top of my head, how about asking people to email you dumb drawings for a dumb drawings page, and the winner gets a link on your homepage? Or create disgusting recipes for a disgusting recipes page. Or start a mailing list and mail people a shape of the day. Like a big circle, or a little circle, or one of the weird shapes like a pentagon or something. People like shapes. And you can have "face friday" when you email a face instead of a shape, and maybe have someone get a face with a mustache, and if that person contacts you, you can give him a free link on your mustache face page.

I heard that new forums don't work well unless you're getting at least 100 unique visitors to your website.

Oh, I forgot to say "per day." I wouldn't worry about that too much for a hobby website. Anyway, you can see how active your forum is now that you have it set up, and if that's fine with you, keep it.

Re: We need a freelance game programmer.

I would say that weston should be encouraged. But perhaps this isn't a good place to find game developers or even free games.

You might try these links:

There are a wide variety of game sites listed, if you are into games this should keep you occupied for a while.

Don't be discouraged by poor responses for developers, just keep at it, keep learning. If you never give up someday you'll win, but when you give up it's "game over."
