Anyone else waiting up for...

... IE5?

Ok, I have to admit it, I'm a browser freak.

Well, that, and I can't wait to get my hands on a stable release of OE5.

LOL... let us know what you think of it

I'm just waiting for my son to wake up (it's his b-day today)... once he is awake I have an excuse to 'go play'

Well, it took two more hours to download than it said it would, but... It's pretty good.

OE5 is Outlook Express 5, the newest mail client, which is the main reason I downloaded IE5 anyway. It has a lot more of the features that I needed.

Oh, and wish your son a happy b-day for me, Deb!

When I saw the subject line I thought it might be about the service release coming out for win98, but I have heard that OE 5 is really good, I will upgrade for that since there are a few features that I was used to in eudora pro that I'm missing now that I have heard are addressed in the IE5 total update.

Charles: I'm just off to try and get IE5 myself -- I never could get IE 4 on this machine, though -- after the download timed out on 5 different occasions, I gave up on it. We'll have to see if this version works. What's OE5?

Deb: have a great day with your son! You both deserve it! Have fun!

I was reading an LA Times article this morning about IE5 and was wondering about this statement:

Quote:
Windows users can also upgrade their operating system by simply downloading and using Internet Explorer 5.0
Anyone know what they mean by this? I'm using Win95 and the suggestion is that I can get a Win98 upgrade by going to IE5. Am I (as I suspect) mis-interpreting this statement? Microsoft certainly hasn't given away Win98 (the Win95 patch) up til this point.

That is a bit misleading, yeah. MS removed the ability in IE5 to integrate with the Windows 95 shell. You'd have to install IE4, set it for shell integration, then upgrade to IE5. Even then, it's not that much of an upgrade.
