SSH irregularities
FutureQuest Tech Gods:
I have started setting up PuTTY for use with my FutureQuest domain names. My goal is to SSH encrypt my Eudora e-mail traffic. Curiously enough, the SSH session establishes just fine with one of my domain names, but with the other domain name the session is completely unable to connect. The terminal window comes up but always times out. Both domain names are hosted by FutureQuest under separate accounts. I get the same results with two different computers (Windows XP and Win2K). I have checked the PuTTY settings for both sessions, and they appear to be the same except for the domain names (I have tried substituting IP addresses for the domain names but get the same results). Are there perhaps some settings in the control panel that I should be looking at to enable SSH sessions?
Thanks.
Patrick

Re: SSH irregularities
There wouldn't be anything you would need to enable, other than using the correct settings. It is possible that you have been blocked from one account (server) due to incorrect/illegal logins as described here. To allow us to check, we would need to know the account and your gateway IP address. You can determine your gateway IP by visiting:
http://www.FutureQuest.net/Support/whatismyip.php
or
http://whatismyip.com
If you don't wish to provide this information publicly on the forums, we would recommend sending it to Service@FutureQuest.net.

Re: SSH irregularities
Are you trying to keep both sessions open at the same time? You'd at least have to use different ports (5110/5025 and 6110/none, use 5025 for all SMTP?), and even then I haven't tried it.

Re: SSH irregularities
Nope. The sessions are only opened at different times.

This would not be a reference to me.
If you right-click the title bar of the PuTTY terminal window, you can access the Event Log. How does it differ between the two sessions?

Re: SSH irregularities
The domain for which the SSH session opens properly is chaucerwells.com
The domain for which the session will not initiate is raftelis.com (69.5.12.50)
The gateway for our T1 access is 66.147.83.86

Re: SSH irregularities
Hello,
The IP you have indicated is not shown as being blocked on the server that raftelis.com is located on.
I suspect your actual IP may be a different IP and you should be able to check that here:
http://www.FutureQuest.net/Support/whatismyip.php
or here:
http://whatismyip.com
Let us know,
Bob

Re: SSH irregularities
In reference to the differences between the two session logs: the session logs for the nonfunctional sessions contain only the first line =~= PuTTY log 2005.08.25 15:24:32 =~= and nothing else, because the session times out without connecting. The event log for the successful session contains lines for the numerous events that take place during a successful session.

That IP was blocked. The block has now been removed.
