PC World: 94 free programs without malware...
Sounds too good to be true. I plan to check all these out later, but this link just looked too good not to post now...

I have been using this for over a year and am very pleased with it.
http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/pins.html
In fact, now that you've brought this to my attention I'm so pleased that I'm going to actually donate today. After using freeware for over a year with no problems I think a donation is in order!
And yes, even way back in 2002 when I began using this, I was concerned about a pw mgr being spyware--a serious place for encyrption. I don't recall what made me decide this one was ok, maybe just the referrals and the look of the site--but anyway, no probs yet!

Someone's been copying from someone.
Your http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/pins.html says:

PINs does not require installation and does not need any special dlls, drivers or system files which can mess up your system. This means that PINs can run directly from floppy - including data files - without installing anything. This is extremely useful if you wish to easily access your data on other computers as well.

and one of my non-free choices at http://www.treepad.com/treepadfreeware/ says (under "Usage and installation):

The program is small in size (only 380 Kb), it does not need any special dlls, drivers or system files which can mess up your system. This means that TreePad can run directly from floppy - including database - without installing anything! This is extremely useful if you wish to easily access your notes on other computers as well.

And I didn't even need the plagiarism tool to find that.

hmmm.. that's interesting.
mirekw.com was registered in Sept 2001, FREEBYTE.COM goes back to 1996... Treepad's whois server is down.
Since it is all freeware there can hardly be much serious theft going on here...
While you are doing research this would be a good time for me to plug my brand new Tech Product Review Site Listing. I just finished it, lots of work, maybe a typo or two still.

Because of this, I won't be considering mirekw.com's pins.
Yeah, Treepad Lite is free, but I need Treepad Safe if I want to save passwords, and that costs money.

I like the password manager I've been using, but now I want one that has a PalmOS version (or is compatible with one that runs on Palm). I find myself logging into my home PC from my clients' offices to look up their passwords. Now that I've outsourced part of my brain to this PDA thingy, I might as well use it for the tough stuff.

Randall, there a many good applications which do what you are talking about. The one I have been using for a couple of years is Cloak (now called TurboPasswords) offered by Chapura. I like the fact that it synchronizes perfectly and has a simple and customizable UI for the desktop. I have not tried the new version yet. The CSV functionality has come in handy a couple of times. Most of all it allows me to organize the seemingly endless number of passwords necessary these days.
If you are interested in a list of other programs that do this, try searching under password at Palmgear.
